Indie Business 101: How to Wholesale Your Product Line And Make A Living

As I've been talking to new pilot program members and developing the catalog-upload function (you can upload you're entire catalog in less than 5 minutes!), I've been surprised to learn how many designers (and retailers!) struggle to learn the basic business fundamentals.  These fundamentals help your business unfold smoothly, and provide you with the tools to navigate the rough patches.

Good news: you don't need to get an MBA to learn these skills and tools! You can learn a lot of the basics from books, articles and through trial and error. In the hope of saving you some of that painful "error" part of the equation, we're going to put together a IndieBiz 101 series.

Every Wednesday we'll have a post on one of the basics and every Friday Tara will be rounding up resources that help you with that week's subject.

What are the fundamentals?

Getting started, legally

Using the tools of the trade

Scaling production

Promoting your business (Marketing)

Finding your right people

Picking a trade show

Preparing for a trade show

Pricing your products

Define Success

Successful & Sane

Retail vs Wholesale Packaging

Prepare to Double
